Frequently asked questions
How does GPS tracking work in TimeClock 365?
Employees punch in and out with the TimeClock 365 mobile app, and the app records the GPS location of every punch. With the Employee Location Tracking module, the app also sends the location at the interval you choose during working hours, so managers can see a live map and each employee's route.
Can I stop employees from punching in away from the job site?
Yes. Add each site in Customers & Locations with a radius, then choose in the work agreement whether to block punches outside the area or to allow them and notify the employee.
Is employees' location tracked all the time?
No. Continuous tracking runs only during working hours, only for employees you enable, at the interval you set. Outside work, only the punches carry a location.
Where do I see where employees punched in?
In the Timecard, click Show on the map next to a punch, or Load address to see the street address of the punch-in and punch-out. You can also export the Attendance Report with Locations.
Can I get alerts about employee locations?
Yes. Create an alert to get notified when selected employees arrive at or leave a customer's area, or when they turn their phone's GPS on or off.
What do employees need?
The TimeClock 365 app for iPhone or Android, GPS turned on, and location permission for the app.
Which plans include live tracking and routes?
Recording the location of each punch and geofencing are part of mobile clock-in. Live location tracking with routes is the Employee Location Tracking module on the Premium plan.
Can I restrict web portal punches too?
GPS rules apply to the mobile app. For the web portal, restrict punches to your office IP address.
