TimeClock 365 & Jira: A Quick User Guide
This guide will walk you through tracking your time on Jira issues using the TimeClock 365 Chrome extension.
Part 1: User - Tracking Time on Jira Issues
1. Install the TimeClock 365 Chrome Extension:
- Go to the TimeClock Extension page in the Chrome Web Store.
- Click “Add to Chrome” to install the extension.
- You can pin the extension so that it will be always available for your convenience.
2. Log in to the TimeClock 365 Extension:
Click the TimeClock 365 icon (usually a clock) in your Chrome toolbar.
You’ll be prompted to log in. Use your TimeClock 365 credentials (the same username and password you use on the web app).
3. Open a Jira Issue and start tracking time:
- Navigate to the Jira issue you want to work on.
You’ll see a “Start task” button is provided by the TimeClock 365 extension.
Click “Start task”.
Your timer will start running, and the current task will be recorded in the extension.
You can verify it by clicking on the TimeClock 365 extension icon in Chrome toolbar – you will see the running timer there.
4. Stop tracking.
When you’re done working on the issue, click the “Stop task” button again. Your time will be recorded and the task will be marked as stopped.
Part 2: Admin - Setting Up Alerts
This section is optional. It guides a TimeClock 365 administrator on setting up daily task summary alerts.
1. Log into the TimeClock 365 Web App:
Open your web browser and go to your TimeClock 365 web app.
Log in with your administrator credentials.
2. Navigate to Alerts:
Look for the “Alerts” section in the sidebar. Click it.
3. Create a New Alert:
Click the button to create a new alert.
4. Configure the Alert:
Add a Watcher:
In the Watchers section, select the users who will receive this alert.
Users to Watch:
Select the user(s) whose activity you want to monitor.
Attendance Settings:
In the Attendance section, select at least one checkbox.
Daily Task Summary:
Scroll down to the “Daily Task Summary” section.
Select the Checkbox “Trigger tasks summary notification for” to enable this alert.
Choose a Day: Select whether you want to get the alert for the “Previous Day” or “Current Day”.
Set the Time: Select the time (Hour and Minute) you would like the alert to be sent out.
5. Save the Alert:
Click the “Save” button. The new alert will now be active.
