Door access control in Microsoft Teams

See who's in the building right now and every door entry as it happens, without leaving Teams. The free TimeClock 365 app for Microsoft Teams has two real-time door screens: Who's in for who is inside, outside or on time off at this moment, and Door access for the live log of door entries.

What is door access control in Microsoft Teams?

It means the people who look after the building - reception, office managers, security, HR - see door activity live from inside Teams instead of logging in to a separate access control system. With TimeClock 365, the Teams app reads the same cloud door data as the TimeClock 365 web portal.

You still manage doors, readers and permissions in TimeClock 365 cloud access control. Teams is where your team sees what is happening at those doors right now.

Demo with fictional people and doors.

Door, time and duration

Each person in the Inside and Outside lists shows the door, the time of their last door event and a duration.

Time off in the same view

Time off comes from TimeClock 365 time off records: type, dates and the return date when absences run back to back.

Real time

Who's in shows the current moment, not a report you run later.

Honest when doors are offline

If no door terminal is online, a note says presence may be incomplete - an empty list is not mistaken for an empty building.

Works on a phone

On a narrow screen the three lists stack into one column.

Screen 2 · Door access

Every door entry, as it happens

Who passed, in or out, through which door and terminal, and when - newest first. Denied attempts and unknown cards stand out, so they get checked instead of lost in a long list.

Demo with fictional people, cards and doors.

Live, newest first

New door entries appear at the top as they happen.

Who, where and when

Each event: the person, Enter or Exit, the door, the terminal, the person ID and the time.

Rows worth noticing

Access denied and Unregistered personnel rows are highlighted. Remote open and Super user open are labelled.

Unknown cards still identified

A card not registered to anyone shows its card number, so you can trace it.

Permission per screen

The log opens only for users with the Door access permission.

Local door time

Each event shows in its door terminal's own time zone, so a door in another country reads correctly.

Permissions

Only the people you choose see the doors

Who's in and Door access are two separate permissions in TimeClock 365. Give reception the Who's in screen and security the live door log - or both to the same person.

  • Hidden from the menu for users without the permission
  • Checked on the page too - typing the address does not open the screen
  • Refused by the server - the door data is not sent to users without access
  • ISO 27001 certified TimeClock 365 cloud

Two screens, two permissions

Who's in - inside, outside and on time off right now. Suits reception and office managers.

Door access - the live door event log. Suits security and facility teams.

Who it's for

For the people who answer "who's in?"

Office managers

Know who is in the office right now and who is on time off, without walking the floor.

Reception

Check if a colleague is inside before sending a visitor up.

Security

Spot denied attempts and unknown cards the moment they happen.

HR

See door presence and time off side by side, right now.

Teams app free. Door Access Control from $1.90 per user / month

Door access control in Microsoft Teams - FAQ

Can I see who is in the building from Microsoft Teams?

Yes. The Who's in page in the TimeClock 365 app for Microsoft Teams shows, right now, who is inside, who is outside and who is on time off, with a count in each list header. It needs TimeClock 365 door access control and the Who's in permission.

Can I see door entries live in Microsoft Teams?

Yes. The Door access page in the TimeClock 365 Teams app lists door entries as they happen, newest first. Each event shows who passed, whether they entered or exited, which door and terminal, and the time.

Who can open the door access screens in Teams?

Only users who have the permission for that screen in TimeClock 365. Who's in and Door access are separate permissions, so a user can have one without the other. The Teams app checks the permission on the page itself, not only in the menu, and the TimeClock 365 server refuses the data to anyone without it.

Does the Teams app show denied door attempts and unknown cards?

Yes. In the TimeClock 365 door event log in Teams, denied attempts are labelled Access denied and cards not registered to anyone are labelled Unregistered personnel. Both rows are highlighted. An unregistered card shows its card number, since that is the only identity it has. Remote opens and super user opens are labelled too.

How much does door access control in Teams cost?

The TimeClock 365 app for Microsoft Teams is a free add-on. You pay for TimeClock 365 Door Access Control, which starts at $1.90 per user per month billed annually. Mobile wallet keys (Apple and Google Wallet) are priced on request, and door hardware is quoted per building.

Do I need separate software to manage the doors?

No. Doors, readers, users and permissions are managed in TimeClock 365 cloud door access control, with no local server. The Teams app shows the same data inside Teams. TimeClock 365 is ISO 27001 certified and works in 20+ countries in 12 languages.
